Touchback

60-year-old Kurt Russell hasn't been on screen since his great turn as Stuntman Mike in "Death Proof," Quentin Tarantino's half of 2007's "Grindhouse."

For a few years, it looked like Stuntman Mike would be Russell's swan song, but now, in addition to reuniting with Tarantino for "Django Unchained" and co-starring in the ensemble drama "Waco," Russell is getting his "The Blind Side" on, with the "It's A Wonderful Life"-flavored football drama, "Touchback."

The film, which is completed, has been picked up by Anchor Bay for distribution. "Touchback" tells the story of "a farmer (Brian Presley) who wonders how his life would have turned out had he not scored the winning touchdown of a high school championship game, which resulted in him damaging his knee and losing a chance at a pro career. He finds himself back in time and seeks advice from his coach, played by Russell."

No word yet on whether or not the farmer learns to accept his life the way it turned out, but Vegas is no doubt burning up with action on that query. No word either on a release date, but we presume it will be the usual hybrid VOD/theatrical approach that is Anchor Bay's standard operating procedure. [THR]
