So we're out of 2011, and finding ourselves in the doldrums of the early part of the new year, when the multiplex tends to serve up studio leftovers. But just around the corner is blockbuster season, which will be putting asses in theater seats, and Lionsgate are hoping they've got one of the first smash successes of 2012 in "The Hunger Games." We'll likely be deluged with marketing over the coming weeks, but to whet appetites, a few new images for the movie have appeared.

Most notably, these pics give the first look at Lenny Kravitz (Cinna) and Woody Harrelson (Haymitch) in the film, both of whom appear ready to camp it up. The other images give us a further look at the stars, including Jennifer Lawrence being flanked by some heavy security in a particularly striking still. We also get a peek at one of the many tributes as well, whose name we don't remember/are too lazy to look up.

Anyway, with a soundtrack boasting Taylor Swift, the married duo from Arcade Fire and The Decemberists, and packaged up with some good looking leads, this is being presented very much like another mega franchise that shall not be named. Let's hope the quality control is much better. "The Hunger Games" arrives on March 23, 2012. [via MovieWeb]

THESE ARE NOT NEW PICTURES. YOU ARE ALL VULTURES PICKING OVER HUFFPO'S RECYCLED SCRAPS. seriously, do you even realize these pictures have been around for over a month? HuffPo is stupid and you guys are even worse.

My guess is the tribute you don't remember and are too lazy to look up is Rue, a very pivotal character in the story. I hope nobody in this movie is campy. The book was so phenomenal it deserves better than campy actors.
