As the marketing for "Anchorman: The Legend Continues" carries on, it can be easy to forget that there is actual movie in between the mobile games, Ron Burgundy guest appearances, branded clothes, and more. But as we get closer to the release date, the fog of commercials is beginning to clear and the comedy is beckoning on the horizon. And wouldn't you know it? The movie could be an Oscar contender.

Anchorman: The Legend Continues

As the marketing for "Anchorman: The Legend Continues" carries on, it can be easy to forget that there is actual movie in between the mobile games, Ron Burgundy guest appearances, branded clothes, and more. But as we get closer to the release date, the fog of commercials is beginning to clear and the comedy is beckoning on the horizon. And wouldn't you know it? The movie could be an Oscar contender.

Paramount Pictures are slowly building out their For Your Consideration site, and have dropped their original song "Doby" from Ron Burgundy's movie for everyone to hear. The overwrought ballad (complete with children's choir) is pretty funny stuff, so kudos there. But it's not the only tune in the movie. The soundtrack is absolutely packed with songs from the '70s/early '80s featuring disco (Hot Chocolate), hip hop (Grandmaster Flash) and even some pretty deep cuts (Ennio Morricone's "Lonesome Billy" from the 1964 western "Bullets Don't Argue"). It shouldn't be too surprising since at one time Will Ferrell and company were trying to mount an "Anchorman" Broadway show.

Anyway, take a look at the full tracklist below (via Broadway World) with samples of many of the tunes—click here to listen to "Doby" (we'll add an embed when one becomes available). The soundtrack hits the streets on December 18th with the movie now moving up a couple days and slated to also arrive on the 18th. New images from the film below on page 2.
