Listen, we poke as much fun at Hans Zimmer's BRAAAM-ing of the movies as anyone, but the truth is that his scores generally rule. His work for Christopher Nolan is exceptional, adding to the gravitas the filmmaker was aiming for both in his Batman trilogy and the dream-world thriller "Inception." His pieces can both be propulsive and moody, evocative and eerie but they usually can't be ignored. They are are mostly a key ingredient of whatever project he's involved with and that seems to be no different with "Man Of Steel."

We've already heard a 6 minute sampling from the official soundtrack, so how about a full track? Granted, it's a weird rip that might not be complete, but "An Ideal Hope" is absolutely goosebump-raising no matter what. Yeah, we'll go ahead and use that word epic again, because it is and it's mostly just powerful stuff that seems to perfectly marry the triumphant and heroic vibe we want from a Superman movie.

That song, along with another 3 minute preview is available for listen ahead of the films release. The soundtrack will land in regular and deluxe editions on June 11th, with the movie arriving on June 14th.

When comes the goosbumps? Its actually the worst score I ever heard from Zimmer. Non inventiv, non original. Cant he at least do something new for once. This score is crap. Sorry. He can do much better than this.

I love many of Zimmer's soundtracks. To those who talk about 'zimbots' and such nonsense. How do you explain the (subjective) fact that those same composers make awful solo soundtracks most of the time when Hans is not involved? I listen to many film soundtracks and I really want to like what these others make, but they sound like mediocre flat things. Zimmer gives power to the movies he works on IMO. He probably can get the best out of those composers? I don't know.

Zimmer sets mood, but never goes anywhere. Highly overrated.

@Record, if that is all you expect from film music, and by the way if you feel Mozart somehow epitomizes instrumental music, then you've a narrow view of both.

That is the point of making music for a movie. It doesn't have to be Mozart. The brilliance is in the simplicity and how it complements the scene.

Yes this is the music featured in the trailer, but look at who uploaded it to SoundCloud, WaterTowerMusic. It isn't just the track someone ripped from the trailer...

Why the f is this becoming news all of the sudden now, when it's been available for weeks now? Like another poster commented, it's from the trailer and there is no track titled "An Ideal Hope"! A fan made up the title and now it has blown up in the internetsphere as a actual track, but you'll notice it's not even on the soundtrack. Yes, the music is by Zimmer and from the movie, but it will be arranged differently in the actual film and soundtrack. Get your shit together indiewire!

Zimmer doesn't even score most of his own work, he delegates it to his team. That's why he's earned the dubious honor of having his group of "Zimbots" do everything.

I apologize on behalf of the ThePlaylist team. Thanks for pointing it out.

That "Ideal Hope" song is just a track someone put together by removing the dialogue from the trailer. They did a pretty good job, considering the source material, but I listened on headphones and in certain spots you could hear the sound effects and dialogue in the exact same spots from the original trailer.
