While Peter Jackson's "The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey" will likely crush your eyeballs in whatever format it's served up in, he's hoping engage your ear drums too. Once again reteaming with Howard Shore, the composer has cooked up another grand score for the latest adventures in Middle Earth, and you can listen to it right now.

The guys over at Empire have unveiled the tunes in a handy player, that due to copyright and theft concerns, doesn't allow you skip tracks (if you want to know the full tracklist, click here). But if you're eager to hear Crowded House member Neil Finn's contribution "The Song Of The Lonely Mountain" without surfing through the rest of the tunes, Rolling Stone dropped the needle on that yesterday and you can listen to it below. And if it sounds grander than you initially thought it might, that's because he had a bit of help from a frequent collaborator in the The Flaming Lips, no slouches in the sonically grand album department -- see, The Soft Bulletin, At War With The Mystics and more.

"After some days of mining underground (actually, in Peter's office) I emerged with the song, then set about recording it with my sons Elroy and Liam. [Producer] Dave Fridmann came in at the end with a bold mix. He seemed to respond well to my demands for 'more anvil!' Pop music needs more anvil!"

The soundtrack will hit stores on December 11th just before the film is released worldwide on December 14th. Listen below.
