With "Cars 2" hitting theaters tomorrow, we expect a teaser trailer for Pixar's "Brave" to arrive any moment now, but until then yesterday's poster and these character pics will have to do.
Starring Kelly Macdonald, Billy Connolly, Emma Thompson, Julie Walters and Kevin McKidd, the story, set in the Scottish highlands in years gone by, focuses on Princess Merida (Macdonald), the daughter of the rulers of the kingdom who one day “defies a sacred custom of the land, and inadvertently brings turmoil to the kingdom.” In order to fix things, she goes to a Wise Woman (Walters) and is granted a wish; one that is described as "ill-fated." Up top we have our first look at Princess Merida and her mother, Queen Elinor (Thompson). Below the jump is a look at the Wise Woman and Lord Macintosh, played by Craig Ferguson, who we didn't even realize was in this. So there's a bit of a surprise.
"Brave" is said to be slightly darker than normal Pixar fare, but still appropriate for the kiddies. The film hits on June 22, 2012 and will hopefully make up for forcing people to endure "Cars 2." [via RopeOfSilicon]

Oooo. Brave is starting to sound more Miyazaki-esque by the minute. Color me stoked!

And I'm so glad Reese is out and the truly magnificent Kelly is in.
Make that the second film I'm glad Reese has bowed out of (Amy Adams will ace the wife role in the Master).
