'Love Actually' Director Richard Curtis' 'About Time' Starring Rachel McAdams Pushed To Fall, New Image Revealed

Even before it makes its way into theatres, Richard Curtis’ latest romantic comedy, "About Time," is showing its time-travelling prowess. The Working Title feature starring Rachel McAdams and Domhnall Gleeson follows a 21-year-old who finds out he can time travel, and uses his ability to go back in time and meet the girl he loves for the first time, over and over again. The film was due for release on May 10th, but Universal has sent it back to the future and it will now debut on November 1st.

That change means that instead of serving as counter-programming and opening in the middle of a packed early-summer month, the same week as “The Great Gatsby,” a week after “Iron Man 3,” and a week before “Star Trek Into Darkness,” it will now go up against “Ender’s Game” and “Thor” a week later. If this affects the film’s international release strategy remains to be seen, but if not, it will mean territories like the U.K. will be getting the movie a mere 9 months earlier.

Who knows, we could see another Working Title rom-com arrive earlier than that – “I Give It A Year” with Rafe Spall and Rose Byrne goes on release in the U.K. next week, and we’re still hopefull that it will pick up distribution in the U.S. too (it will play SXSW in March). As for "About Time," Universal has released an image from the film to tide you over, showing one of those meetings between Gleeson and McAdams, and don’t they seem to be having a lovely time. Also starring in the film are Tom Hollander, Bill Nighy and (you heard it here first!) a potential star of the future in the form of former “Neighbours” actress Margot Robbie. But hey, by the time you see the film you’ll have forgotten about that anyway. [Collider/The Wrap]
