10 Essential Cinematic AntiheroesAnd "reality" is the key word as THR reports that lamely named producing team Magical Elves -- Dan Cutforth and Jane Lipsitz -- the pair behind a slew of cable hits including "Top Chef" and "Project Runway" will direct the movie. Oh, why did they get this gig? They also happened to produce the mega smash hit "Justin Bieber: Never Say Never" so, there you go. But they won't be alone as Craig Brewer, the musically minded helmer behind "Footloose" and "Hustle & Flow," will be lending his experience and powers as an executive producer on the project.
So what will this thing be all about? Apparently it's going to be a concert/documentary hybrid about Perry's life on and offstage. This means we'll probably get a tearful section about what a total meanie Russell Brand is -- 3D divorce papers everyone! The movie will be made via Paramount's cheapie Insurge label, which scored a big hit with "The Devil Inside" in January, with a quick turnaround expected. Because after all, who knows how long is left in Katy Perry's fifteen mintues?
