After a promising start, HBO's "True Blood" went off the rails rather fast. But one of the reasons I managed to stick it out for as long as I did with the already trashy show was the turn by undersung cast member Deborah Ann Woll. She made the most of her arc as a virginal woman turned into a vampire, who then has to deal with the double whammy of a sexually rapacious appetite and a need to feed. She certainly made much more of whatever was on the page. Hopefully she can do the same for her next gig.
The actress has been cast as Karen Page in Marvel's Netflix series "Daredevil." The character was played briefly by Ellen Pompeo in the Ben Affleck movie, and is a love interest for Matt Murdock, working at his law firm and then eventually learning of his true identity. Standard comic book stuff really, but hopefully there's more to it in the series.
Woll joins Charlie Cox, Elden Henson, Vincent D’Onofrio and Rosario Dawson in the show that will debut next year. [EW]
