You gotta hand it to producer Larry Thompson, he certainly knows how to drum up publicity. Just a week after word circulated that Lindsay Lohan was in talks to play Elizabeth Taylor in the forthcoming Lifetime biopic (now given the unfortunate title "Liz And Dick") the producer has chatted up E!, dropping another name that he's been considering.
"I've been talking to Lindsay Lohan directly, and with her reps, and have been in conversations with other actresses, including Megan Fox," Thompson said, while adding, "It's a very serious selection. It's like casting for Hollywood royalty."
Of course, sources tell E! that Lohan's probation and general unpredictable nature make casting her "a complication" even though she's apparently a frontrunner. And frankly, we just don't see Megan Fox -- who is trying desperately to break out of the "Transformers" box with roles in the upcoming "Friends With Kids" and "This Is 40" -- backsliding into what will likely be a pretty tawdry TV movie. Bear in mind, this is the same network unveiling the Rob Lowe starring "Drew Peterson: Untouchable" movie in about a week.
But hey, it makes for good hype, even if the eventual lead will probably be someone in the B or C-list range. Production is gearing up to start this spring in Canada.
