10 Essential Cinematic AntiheroesMetal band Mastodon posted on their Facebook page yesterday that they were contributing a song for the new film. Unfortunately, the post has since been pulled down, but Metal Injection (via Slashfilm) was able to get a screen grab. Guess they let the cat out of the bag a little too early. Although the intersection between Pixar and Mastodon may seem weird at first, it wouldn’t mark the first time the band has provided music for a film. They previously contributed music to both the “Aqua Teen Hunger Force” movie and the best-forgotten “Jonah Hex.”
The animated film also has two new posters (via Film School Rejects), which feature our two leading monsters in letterman jackets, lounging in a dorm room. Hopefully “Monsters University” sees Pixar on top of their game again when it hits theaters on June 21, 2013. And if you need your monster fix before then, catch the 3D-converted “Monsters Inc.” on December 19th. And if you've yet to hear Mastodon, get a taste of their awesomeness below.
