10 Essential Cinematic AntiheroesDeadline reports that Michael Fassbender -- first rumored just over a week ago -- is to take the lead in the film, and it's moving fast. Penned by Cormac "I Hate Semi-Colons And Exclamation Points" McCarthy, the script is an amped up "No Country For Old Men"-esque tale that follows a lawyer who naively gets involved in the drug trade and finds himself caught up in a desperate situation. But it's not all gonna be testosterone telling the story, as there are two female leads that are reportedly integral to the movie.
May 1st is now pegged as the start date for the project with apparently a bevy of "high-profile actors" all seeking roles in the movie. Frankly, this is the most exciting project Scott has undergone in years (and yes, that includes "Prometheus") so we're stoked it's actually happening (and soon), and of course, we couldn't be happier Fassbender is going to lead the charge.

Cormac McCarthy's "THE COUNSELOR" now referred to as Ridley Scott's "THE COUNSELOR". typical.

I've read a script review. The film sounds great but it also seems to be a lot like Breaking Bad.

I imagine that the fight for those two juicy female roles is going to be unbelievably cutthroat.

I think most projects that Ridley Scott has directed over the last decade seemed exciting at the preliminary stage (apart from A Good Year), even more so than this project, it's just the end product that was severely disappointing.
