Even though we're right in the middle of awards season hoopla, it looks like the year (or this week anyway) is going to end on a geeky note. In addition to the much-talked-about prologue, a new trailer for "The Dark Knight Rises" has already leaked online and is expected to be officially released very soon, a poster dropped for "Prometheus" (and a new trailer should coming soon as well) and now two of the big comic book movies of next spring/summer are getting out of the gate with some stuff to look at.

First up, Sony has launched the site for "The Amazing Spider-Man" and with it, dropped a few more pics from the movie. Nothing particularly earth-shattering here though it seems Denis Leary will have a bigger role than we expected as Captain Stacy, the man tasked with tracking down the vigilante Spider-Man. Dude gets his own wallpaper. Meanwhile, the rest of the pics are intriguing, but we're still waiting to find out what this "untold story" will be. As far as we can tell, it'll be the origin story all over again, just with a younger, pre-Daily Bugle Peter Parker. Meh.

Speaking of "meh," a couple more banners for "The Avengers" have landed over at IGN and they are variants on the same poses you've seen the cast do for the past year or so. Again, nothing mindblowing, though it should whet comic book fans' appetites.

"The Amazing Spider-Man" opens on July 3, 2012 while "The Avengers" will punch in a bit sooner on May 4, 2012.
