"The Company Of Wolves" and "Ondine" director Neil Jordan returns to the fantastical this year with vampire tale "Byzantium." Set to make its world premiere at TIFF in a couple of months, a handful of new images from the film have arrived.

Starring Gemma Arterton, Saorise Ronan and Sam Riley, the film tells a unique bloodsucker tale that's a cut different than the woes of Edward and Bella. Here's the official synopsis: Two mysterious women seek refuge in a run-down coastal resort. Clara meets lonely Noel, who provides shelter in his deserted guesthouse, Byzantium. Schoolgirl Eleanor befriends Frank and tells him their lethal secret. They were born 200 years ago and survive on human blood. As knowledge of their secret spreads, their past catches up on them with deathly consequence.

No release date or stateside distributor yet for the film.

Again, it seems the cinematography is gorgeous. The story is reminiscent of Daughters of darkness indeed, plus the first picture looks like it could be straight from some of the best Argento flicks. Let's hope it will catch that 70's feeling without being too derivative...

sounds really similar to daughters of darkness. If they can get a performance half as good Delphine Seyrig it will be killer.
