So Shailene Woodley, who will no longer appear in "The Amazing Spider-Man 2" and is reportedly being replaced in part 3 all together, got kicked in the teeth today, right? That and the fact that there were those vile comic book nerd posts a while back questioning her attractiveness (like those guys wouldn't dream to sit next to her, let alone date her). Meh, not so much. In fact, it's kind of been her day. She showed up in the trailer for "The Spectacular Now," this morning, one of Sundance 2013's biggest hits and now new images of "Divergent" have been released. What's "Divergent"? Well, a sci-fi-ish young adult movie adaptation that looks like it's going to be as popular as "The Hunger Games" if audience fan buzz is any indication.

Woodley is the star, but she was reluctant to take the role at first. "My agents were like, ‘are you f—ing crazy?’ But I said if this movie is successful, things will change and I don’t want that,” she told Entertainment Weekly today. Set in a futuristic dystopia, "Divergent" centers on a who teenager seeks to break free from her homogeneous society that divides people based on human traits. She leaves her faction and joins a rival group, where she falls for an older man.

Here’s the official synopsis:

DIVERGENT is a thrilling adventure set in a future world where people are divided into distinct factions based on their personalities, Tris Prior (Shailene Woodley) is warned she is Divergent and will never fit into any one group. When she discovers a conspiracy to destroy all Divergents, she must find out what makes being Divergent so dangerous before it’s too late.

Directed by Neil Burger ("Limitless"), "Divergent" also co-stars Kate Winslet, Miles Teller, Jai Courtney, Ashley Judd, Tony Goldwyn, Ray Stevenson, Zoe Kravitz, Maggie Q, Mekhi Phifer, Ansel Elgort, Christian Madsen, Ben Lloyd-Hughes, Ben Lamb, and Amy Newbold. Will it be more "Beautiful Creatures" (YA flop) than "Hunger Games" (a YA hit)? Time till tell, but man those fans are loud and vocal. 6 new images below featuring co-star Theo James via EW (hat tip Collider).

Shailene Woodley has very little charisma (her interviews are painful to watch) and as an actress, she's good, not great. Woodley is being hyped to the levels of Jennifer Lawrence but doesn't have the charisma (or the talent quite frankly) that Lawrence has...not even remotely.

you can't compare, Shailene is really great ass Tris and Jennifer Lawrance is perfect to do Katnis, so...

I'm interested about this series. The books are okay. They kind of annoyed me. If the "good guys" got shot in the books, then they were still running around. If the "bad guys" got shot of course it they couldn't do anything... Injuries to the good guys were insignificant. That and being "brave" was synonymous with being a jerk and adrenaline junkie; yet the selfless faction was considered the "lesser" faction. That really bothered me. Hopefully it won't be the glorification of doing dumb "tricks."

I keep hearing great stuff about these series of books, but to be honest nothing about the film seems remotely interesting. Shailene Woodley is pretty overrated in my opinion and I don't know, there is a dullness to her that makes all these stills feel exceedingly underwhelming. Maybe the trailer will change my mind but as of now Divergent looks like a forgettable misfire.

I don't really get the buzz about Woodley- acting wise. I found her to be nothing special in the otherwise completely over-hyped The Descendants but I'm excited to see The Spectacular Now. I hope she suprises me. However, I think one of the things that has made J Law so popular among the masses is not only THG and SLP but her personality... and Woodley strikes me as someone so... strange? Her interviews are the most awkward things... she talks about the environment a lot which is fine, but comes across as in her own world.
