This week, Deadline reports that after a four-year hiatus following the romance-of-a-certain-age hit, “It’s Complicated," Meyers has signed with Sony Pictures Entertainment to direct a new film, co-produced with Matt Tolmach. The project, which remains as yet untitled, will be set in the UK with an all-British cast, with the exception of an American female lead, whose “life gets turned upside-down when she begins dating a very unlikely young man”. The screenplay, originally by "The Spectacular Now" writers Scott Neustadter and Michael Weber, has been re-written by romance-aficionado Meyers.
Doug Belgrad, president of Columbia Pictures, gave a typically partisan nod to the deal: “We are thrilled with the way this project has turned out and we’re especially excited that Nancy intends to make it her next film. This is the kind of movie that Nancy does better than anyone else and we can’t wait to share this new movie with audiences all over the world.” Meyers’ movies are often populated with high-end, good looking stars, so we'd imagine a similar red carpet-worthy cast will be assembled here.
