New Photos & SXSW Mondo Poster For 'Mud' Starring Matthew McConaughey

The Matthew McConaughey renaissance continues (or as he has been calling it in interviews, “a McConaissance” – no, seriously) and we’ll see him next in Jeff Nichols’ highly anticipated third feature “Mud.” The movie played at Cannes last year and Sundance a few months ago, and it gets its theatrical release on April 26th, and as it heads to SXSW we’re getting a look at two new pictures and a Mondo poster.

The Matthew McConaughey renaissance continues (or as he has been calling it in interviews, “a McConaissance” – no, seriously) and we’ll see him next in Jeff Nichols’ highly anticipated third feature “Mud.” The movie played at Cannes last year and Sundance a few months ago, and it gets its theatrical release on April 26th. As it heads to SXSW we’re getting a look at two new pictures and a Mondo poster.

The two pics are nothing all that new – just shots of McConaughey’s eponymous Mud and the kids he rolls with in the film. The Mondo poster, meanwhile, is pretty cool (aren't they all?), and features a shoeprint in the mud as well as some ominous looking snakes.

The movie follows two teenage boys who encounter the fugitive Mud and form a pact to help him evade the bounty hunters who are tracking him and help him reunite with Juniper, his true love. The film currently also has release dates set in France and the UK, and with a bit of success in those territories the film should likely secure wider international distribution too.
