10 Essential Cinematic AntiheroesThe revisionist history and vampire movie mashup is based on the book by Seth Grahame-Green and finds Abraham Lincoln as the politician we know and love, who also happens to be an axe-wielding killer of the undead. And the concept brings some twists. In seems in this iteration of the story, vampires are also pro-slavery -- plantations are essentially a feeding ground -- so Lincoln has more than one reason to want these bloodsuckers dead. But as these images reveal, Lincoln doesn't start off as the most accomplished of hunters, and vampires, played by Rufus Sewell and model Erin Wasson, overtake him early on. And for the few purists furrowing their brows about Lincoln's reputation seemingly being put in the dirt, Walker says you have nothing to worry about.
“His legacy is safe. It’s something we all agree on and we’re all proud of as Americans,” he told EW. “Once you know that, nobody’s going to actually get hurt. We all do idolize him. We do look for qualities he exemplified and try to emulate that in our lives. Nobody gets their feelings hurt because we know who he was. If you throw vampires into the mix, it’s just another way to see someone we already think of as a hero be heroic.”
The Timur Bekmambetov-directed and Tim Burton-produced film arrives on June 22nd. Images below.

The dude playing Lincoln looks like he has one of those Halloween masks on. He's no DDL!

How great of a stunt would it be if they held off and released this the same day as Spielberg's Lincoln?
