An examination of neurosis and relationships, and an unlikely but very welcome sequel to "2 Days In Paris," Julie Delpy returns as writer, director and star of "2 Days In New York," a very funny followup to her sophomore film, and one that utilizes the fish-out-of-water scenario to its comedic advantage.
The sequel picks up with Marion (Delpy), now broken up with Adam Goldberg from the previous film, living in New York, and now in a relationship with Mingus (Chris Rock). Her world gets turned upside down when father, oversexed sister, and her sister’s outrageous boyfriend arrive for a visit. The film is one that has been charming The Playlist staff, with our own fearless commander declaring "the film is hilarious and possesses a Robert Altman-like nimbleness." So yes, it's funny and smart, and features a cameo that's best left unspoiled. And with the summer winding down, and options becoming less enticing at the multiplex, this one is worth seeking out.
Currently available on VOD, if you want to see this on the big screen, head to your local arthouse on August 10th. Until then, check out a new batch of images from the film below.
