Believe it or not, The Playlist likes nothing more than a dumb, hilarious movie. And Sacha Baron Cohen is one of the best at delivering big laughs from big broad characters, while also having some smarts riding beneath the surface. And while it didn't make our top ten list of summer blockbusters we're looking forward to, there was certainly some debate around the water cooler as a few us are definitely on board for Cohen's next, "The Dictator."
This time around Cohen plays the ruthless dicatator of Wadiya who through a series of events winds up lost and unrecognizable in Manhattan. Kind of like a riff on "Coming To America" but with a sexist, fascistic leader instead. We dig it. The oddball cast surrounding him is equally intriguing with Anna Faris playing the love interest of sorts who works at an organic grocery store where he finds a job, John C. Reilly as a hotel manager, Ben Kingsley as his right hand man and Megan Fox as...Megan Fox.
We've already heard some good word on this and we're eager to check it out. Until then, these new pics from the film will have to suffice along with this amazing appearance on Australian morning TV. "The Dictator" opens on May 16th. [Kinopoisk/Vulture]
