Whether or not Tom Hanks is nominated for his turn as Walt Disney in the warm "Saving Mr. Banks" or as the fearless leader of a cargo ship in "Captain Phillips," he seems destined for the Dolby Theater in a few months time. Of course the awards season has a long way to go but the already hotly buzzed Paul Greengrass movie is coming very soon and a batch of new images have dropped.

Captain Phillips,

Whether or not Tom Hanks is nominated for his turn as Walt Disney in the warm "Saving Mr. Banks" or as the fearless leader of a cargo ship in "Captain Phillips," he seems destined for the Dolby Theater in a few months time. Of course the awards season has a long way to go but the already hotly buzzed Paul Greengrass movie is coming very soon and a batch of new images have dropped.

Based on the rather amazing true story, Hanks plays the head of the Maersk Alabama, who made worldwide headlines back in 2009 when he gave himself up to Somali pirates in exchange for the safety of his crew after his boat was attacked. The movie promises nothing less than full throttle thrill ride, and in the hands of Greengrass who knows a thing or two about cranking up the heat, he looks firmly in his wheelhouse here.

Following its premiere later this week at the New York Film Festival, "Captain Phillips" opens on October 11th. New images and TV spots below.
