It's hard to pin down Noomi Rapace. The former girl with the dragon tattoo has been doing everything from big blockbusters ("Prometheus") to cheap genre fare ("Dead Man Down"). And now in another unexpected move, she's going to make a movie with Will Smith.

The actress has signed up for "Brilliance," based on the novel by Marcus Sakey. Adapted by David Koepp ("Secret Window," "Mortdecai") the story is set in "a world where a rare set of people are born with extraordinary abilities and are called 'brilliants.' At the center of the story is a federal agent with great hunting gifts who is drafted to hunt down a terrorist, another such brilliant who intends to start a civil war." Another movie about people with extraordinary gifts who are also exiles? Hooray. Someone named Julius Onah will direct. [Deadline]

Mischa Barton, probably the least successful cast member in her post-"The O.C." career, will star in "Cloudland." Drew Fuller, Katie Parker and Adi Shankar (who has the best headshot ever) will co-star in this supernatural thriller about "a young journalist (Fuller) who investigates a religious cult's terrifying prophecy after the paranormal murder of his younger sister (Parker). Barton will play Fuller's editor and love interest, while Shankar (pictured above) will play an intimidating member of the cult." Production begins this fall. [The Wrap]

Anthony Mackie—who we will watch in anything—is gearing up to join Seth Rogen and Joseph Gordon-Levitt in the previously announced Christmas comedy set to be directed by Jonathan Levine ("50/50"). The "story follows three childhood best friends who reunite in New York City for their annual tradition of going out on Christmas Eve." Production will kick off this summer. [The Wrap]

Maria Bello has joined the Mattel movie "Max Steel." She'll co-star with Ben Winchell, Ana Villafane and Andy Garcia in the movie that's hoping to launch a live action superhero franchise. Good luck with that, guys. [Variety]
