10 Essential Cinematic AntiheroesFreddie Highmore and Vera Farmiga take the roles of Norman and Norma Bates, the odd couple of sorts that eventually led the son down a dark path. But this series, overseen (for better or worse) by "Lost" honcho Carlton Cuse, will follow Norman during his teenage years that we presume eventually turned him into the infamous killer in Hitchcock's delightfully twisted pic. Can this series stand on its own in the shadow of the cinematic classic? Guess we'll soon seen.
"Bates Motel" airs next spring. [EW]

Sorry, but for me, prequel Norman and Mrs. Bates will always be Henry Thomas and Olivia Hussey. Vera Farmiga...I dunno.
And great headline. Interestingly, the Psycho house and the farmhouse in Days Of Heaven were both modeled after the Edward Hopper painting "House By The Railroad".
