With beleaguered film press heading back home from SXSW, all eyes are now being turned to the Croisette for the Cannes Film Festival, which is less than two months away. This year's lineup -- if the rumors and speculation turn out to be accurate -- should be one of the best in years, so it's perhaps fitting that the festival will kick off with Woody Allen's "Midnight In Paris." France is very much enamored with the filmmaker, and with his latest set right in the heart of the famed, titular city it looks like that love is going both ways.
A poster has arrived for the film and it's a charming little piece that plops Owen Wilson within Vincent Van Gogh's "Starry Night." Simple, effective and one we hope is indicative of the mood of the film. Starring a huge ensemble of A-list talent and Gallic stars including Wilson, Marion Cotillard, Rachel McAdams, Kathy Bates, Michael Sheen, Adrien Brody, Nina Arianda, Corey Stoll, Mimi Kennedy, Kurt Fullerby, Carla Bruni, Léa Seydoux and French comedians Gad Elmaleh and Manu Payet, "Midnight In Paris" is a romantic comedy that follows a family traveling to the titular city for business, including a young engaged couple who have their lives transformed throughout the journey. The film celebrates a young man’s great love for Paris, and simultaneously explores the illusion people have that a life different from their own is better.
The Cannes Film Festival kicks off on May 11th and if you can't make it to France, the film will hit theaters on May 20th. Full poster below. [Yahoo]
