You can practically see the marketing department doing backflips already, becuase this one is a no brainer. Combining the stars of three of the big hits of the last few months -- "Contraband," "Safe House," "Mission: Impossible -- Ghost Protocol" -- in the same movie? Slam dunk.
Deadline reports that Paula Patton, who was last seen fighting Lea Seydoux in a swanky hotel room and seducing sleazy Anil Kapoor in 'Ghost Protocol' will hang off the arm of Denzel Washington (and hopefully serve as more than eye candy) in "2 Guns" with Mark Wahlberg. Initially set as a reunion between Wahlberg and "The Fighter" helmer David O. Russell, the gig was given to "Contraband" helmer Baltasar Kormakur last fall. So he'll take on the story penned by Blake Masters and based on the graphic novel by Steven Grant, that follows two lawmen—a DEA agent and an undercover naval officer—who investigate each other as each have been tasked to steal mob money.
We presume this means this is gearing up to shoot soon, which means sometime in the near future we'll have a sexy trailer powered by a Jay-Z song, and looking like a mid-'90s Tony Scott movie. And that's not necessarily a bad thing.
