Petition For Rick Ross' 'Django Unchained' Track Starts Here: 75 Original Songs Eligible For 2012 Oscars

Let's face it, as much as the Academy tries to retool the show each year, the Best Song category is always a lowlight of the show. It doesn't help that the songs themselves are generally not so hot, and whether performed in a giant medley or individually, it tends to bring the telecast to a grinding halt. But listen to us, Oscar voters, you can change all that in 2012.

The list of eligible tunes in the Original Song category has dropped, and yes, if it was a song written for a movie, it's pretty much on here. And while Arcade Fire for "Hunger Games" and Florence + The Machine for "Snow White And The Huntsman" might be more hipster-approved nominations, we'd love to see Rick Ross get a nod for "100 Black Coffins" from "Django Unchained." First off, it's a pretty tight jam, and one of the highlights of Quentin Tarantino's otherwise divisive flick (read our three reviews right here). But also, dude is GQ's BAWSE OF THE YEAR, and just imagine having that swagger walk onto the Dolby Theater stage in February and just killing this track.

So, c'mon Academy, do the right thing. We want Rick Ross in the final five in January. Full list below. [ComingSoon]
