With Hasbro trying to turn their pieces of plastic that sit in Toys 'R Us into legitimate movies (please see "Stretch Armstrong" and "Battleship") we can't say we're too surprised that a Ouija board movie is on the way. We're mostly shocked that M. Night Shyamalan isn't involved.
At any rate, the LA Times reports that Pierre Morel ("Taken," "From Paris With Love") is a lead candidate to direct the film. So, what will the game about a mystical piece of cardboard and a rock be about? It will apparently be a "National Treasure" styled adventure movie of course, which we would assume means that spirits from beyond are going to be leading some people on an absurd scavenger hunt. Any surprise then that Michael Bay's Platinum Dunes production company and writers from "Lost" are the behind the scenes talent on the film?
This project is apparently a rush as "Stretch Armstrong" might not hit theaters until 2013. That said, Morel is one of a few in the mix and for all you dorks out there, rest assured, his adaptation of "Dune" is still being developed. If anything, we hope the spirits from beyond haunt the executives who conjured this terrible idea up in the first place.
