The Best & Worst Of 'Man of Steel'

Recap: 'Arrested Development'
Review: 'The Immigrant'While during the endless press rounds for the movie Ridley Scott said there would be an extended cut with about twenty minutes of new footage, it seems that plan has changed slightly. It should be noted, that these details pertain to the French release of the disc (Prometheus Forum via Collider), but unless Fox plans to make things more irritating for fans of the movie or franchise, we'd wager most of these will extras will be on the North American release as well. Anyway, the release will instead contain fifteen minutes of deleted or alternate scenes, along with a director's commentary (natch) and a whole lot more.
Will questions be answered? Will the commentary end with Ridley Scott going "PSYCHE!" Will we also get the chance to buy the massive 9-disc "Evolution: From Alien to Prometheus" box set French folks are getting? Will this tie into the ongoing viral campaign? When can we stop asking questions? No release date yet for "Prometheus" but it streets in France on October 3rd, so probably sometime around then. Full details below and again, this is all subject to change.

Honestly the extras delving into the world and the production design will probably be better than the actual film. I might end up getting it just for those.

Sorry, but I don't think Ridley Scott ever claimed there was going to be an extended director's cut -- that was just a combination of the internet echo chamber and fanboy reality distortion fields. Here are his quotes that everyone twisted into whatever they wanted to hear (added emphasis is mine):
"This [theatrical cut] is fundamentally the directorâs cut. But there will be half an hour of stuff *on the menu* because people are so into filmsâhow theyâre made, how theyâre set up, and the rejections in it. Thatâs why itâs fascinating. So this will all go on to the menu."
On whether that meant an extended cut: "Maybe. But Iâm so happy with this engine, the way it is right now. *I think itâs fine. I think it works. It can go in a section where, if you really want to tap in, look at the menu.*"
Four mentions of it being menu material and one half-hearted 'maybe' to the idea of an extended cut then got exploded into "FACT: RIDLEY SCOTT CONFIRMS EXTENDED CUT" and now "the plan has changed" because he's releasing it the way he actually said he would? Look, the only reason I mention this is because it seemed like inaccurate reporting at the time and it seems like inaccurate reporting now. I hate to bust chops, but you can hold yourselves to a higher standard than this.
