Quentin Tarantino Kill Bill Vol. 1

Quentin Tarantino is a man who loves to talk, especially about his future projects. Longtime fans may remember him name-checking “Inglourious Basterds” years before cameras started rolling or talking up the possibility of a Vega Brothers team-up, but the holy grail for fans, recently, has been “Kill Bill 3.”

The past couple years has seen the “Pulp Fiction” filmmaker backtrack on his promises to return to the saga of Beatrix Kiddo and finally admitting last year that a third installment was probably unlikely. Speaking with The Independent recently, the director revealed he'd put the kung fu flicks behind him. "There are no genres I absolutely want to do any more, like ticking boxes: 'This, done'. I don't think about Kill Bill 3 that much, as... we already visited them," he said.

Fair enough, but whatever happened to his wistful thinking about calling it quits after 10 movies during the run-up to “Django Unchained?” Well, he’s had a change of heart there too: “OK, it would sound really cool because it’s a round number and it would make sense as I would have made three movies per decade, but it’s not fixed in time. I still have some more things to do before being done with movies.”

What else does he feel he needs to do? His ‘Basterds’ spin-off? An actual western? How about something a little scarier? Said Tarantino, “If there was something I would like to work on again, it would be Honshu’s movies, maybe. Or a horror movie, perhaps.” A horror movie through the eyes of Tarantino? Count us in, even if it won’t be a serial killer movie.

I think what happens is that he gets all caught up in the worlds of all these films that he makes, so when it comes time to do the press rounds, he starts spouting off ideas that relate to the film he just made. He talked Vega Brothers circa Pulp Fiction, Kill Bill vol.3/kung fu flicks circa Kill Bill, the "Basterds" spin off circa Inglourious Basterds, and now he's saying he's writing a Western months after he did Django Unchained. He might actually be doing a western because there are many ways that genre can be interpreted, but I think we should all take any sequel/spin-off talk with a grain of a salt.

knew he wouldn't stop. the man has movies in his blood; he'd probably sooner kill himself before giving up making them.
