Rachel Korine (Yes, Harmony’s Wife) Joins ‘Spring Breakers’

No one wants to admit it, but we all saw “Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back.” Remember that moment where you saw a line-up of “The Women That Jay Calls ‘Bitches?’” It was Ali Larter, Shannon Elizabeth, Eliza Dushku and…some nobody. Well, the fourth woman was Kevin Smith’s wife, Jennifer Schwalbach. Harmony Korine is pulling a similar move, casting his wife Rachel Korine alongside the bizarro cast of James Franco, Vanessa Hudgens, Selena Gomez and Emma Roberts in the still-insane-sounding “Spring Breakers.”

In the film, Hudgens, Gomez, Roberts and Korine play four college-aged girls who decide to rob a fast food restaurant in order pay for the annual getaway, and who get thrown in the slammer once they get there. Franco will then show up playin a rapping drug and arms dealer who bails out the girls, and coaxes them to kill his nemesis named Arch.

Harmony Korine has opted to film this thing during spring break, which I’m sure his production assistants will love. While there is no word on what the film’s budget will look like, the project was packaged by power agency CAA, so we imagine this one will be the biggest budget the director has ever worked with.

Rachel Korine, in addition to modeling work, has previously starred in Michael Tully’s Sundance film “Septien,” and also played Little Red Riding Hood in her husband’s “Mister Lonely,” as well as featuring in “Trash Humpers.” If you’re an actor who’s married to Harmony Korine, you’re bound to get a few interesting parts. This was posted on November 2011 when Emma Roberts was supposed to play the role later given to ashley Bensen because Emma has scheduling issues,
