Ray Liotta Goes From 'Muppets In Space' To 'The Muppets 2'

Way back in the 1990s, Ray Liotta was a pretty big deal for a while there. Of course, he broke out in Martin Scorsese's "Goodfellas," but he also earned attention for playing Shoeless Joe Jackson in "Field Of Dreams." At any rate, by time 1999 rolled out, he could be cast in "Muppets In Space" as a familiar face, and he was, playing a security guard, giving parents something to smile at during the movie that they dragged their kids to. Well, it seems Liotta liked his time acting opposite the Muppeteers so he's gonna do it again.

At any rate, by time 1999 rolled out, he could be cast in "Muppets In Space" as a familiar face, and he was, playing a security guard, giving parents something to smile at during the movie that they dragged their kids to. Well, it seems Liotta liked his time acting opposite the Muppeteers so he's gonna do it again.

The actor has joined the growing cast of "The Muppets 2," but sorry, there are no details on his role. Even the plot is being kept pretty much under lock and key, though it's said to be a Euro caper of some sort. He joins Ricky Gervais, Ty Burrell (as an Interpol inspector) and Tina Fey (as a Russian gulag prison guard) in the movie, with James Bobin and Nicholas Stoller back to direct and write respectively, while Bret McKenzie will once again tune up the music. This is the second sequel Liotta has signed on for in the past week, as he also came aboard Robert Rodriguez's "Sin City: A Dame To Kill For."

Production on "The Muppets 2" kicks off this month in London, so there are likely more surprises to come, and the movie will hit theaters on March 21, 2014. [Variety]
