Move over Paper Magazine critic Dennis Dermody, there's another New York critic even more cranky and contrarian, and he's been doing it for years. That's right, Melissa McCarthy's biggest fan, Rex Reed of the New York Observer, has weighed in on his worst films of 2013, and usual, he's running hard against the tide.
Two of the most celebrated films of the fall season—the Coen Brothers' "Inside Llewyn Davis" and Spike Jonze's "Her"—make the list, and so too does Harmony Korine's "Spring Breakers," but let's face it, there's no way Reed was going to like that movie anyway. Terrence Malick tops the list with his admittedly divisive "To the Wonder," while Reed pours another one out for McCarthy with "Identity Thief" making the ranks too. But credit to Reed—we're glad someone else is realizing how truly awful "Charlie Countryman" is.
