There are Hollywood actors who make a living, others who command a small fortune, and then there is Robert Downey Jr. With a revitalized career thanks to "Iron Man," the actor has not only quickly relaunched himself onto the A-list but he's become a pivotal cog in the Marvel machine. Frankly, it's hard to imagine the Marvel-verse without the success of the "Iron Man" movies, or Downey's presence in billion-dollar-earning "The Avengers" (or its upcoming sequel). But he's been handsomely paid for his efforts.

Forbes has picked up the phone, talked to the right people and crunched the numbers, and estimate that in the past year (from June 2013-June 2014), RDJ took home $75 million dollars. And really, the actor can thank Marvel for that. The actor received $50 million dollars alone in backend profits from "The Avengers," and we reckon he's probably still collecting all kinds of coin from that film and the Marvel movies in general. And after topping this list in 2013, we're sure he'll back on it again, as he reportedly signed a huge contract for "The Avengers: Age Of Ultron" and basically guarantees more yachts filled with money docking into the RDJ waterfront bank compound where he keeps all his earnings.

As for the rest of the chasing RDJ's check out the list below. They've got a long way to go to catch him. [via Shortlist]
