If you'd have told us a few years ago that Robert Pattinson would be walking the red carpet at the Cannes Film Festival, we would've said you were crazy. But the young actor is leading a youth contingent at the fest this year (along with his main squeeze Kristen Stewart and Zac Efron) who will be bringing new energy to a lineup that also boasts a solid list of Cannes veterans.

A few new images from David Cronenberg's "Cosmopolis" have landed online and they nice encapsulate the bonkers vibe the trailers have been giving off for the movie. As you know by now, the film is an adaptation of the novel by Don DeLillo which follows a young billionaire as he slowly makes he way through Manhattan in his limo, on the run from some guys who want to kill him, while his world begins to fall apart. Women, guns and uh, a haircut are all along the way along with Cronenberg's classic dip into the surreal adding an added measure of chaos.

We're definitely intrigued and we'll be eager to see how Pattinson holds up in Cronenberg's absurd world. Juliette Binoche, Paul Giamatti, Jay Baruchel and Sarah Gadon co-star in the film. [Kinopoisk/ShockYa]

I'm sorry, but he looks a little ridiculous in the picture with the sunglasses. Still not sure he has the acting chops to pull this off. He's very one-note in everything I've seen him in.

So, Cronenberg picked a blank faced, flat, actor incapable of expressing emotion on screen to portray a detached, empty billionaire? Perfect casting? Or maybe this was done to annoy people and add an extra layer of symbolism. He could have gotten a really good actor for the role. But by casting Pattinson lets him destroy a golden boy and romantic icon . Take the pretty teen idol and turn him into a shallow, nasty, violent, amoral, drug-abusing asshole. I kind of like that kind perverse underlying motivation.

Then again, they hyped Keira Knightley in A Dangerous Method and she was awful.

Sorry, but he looks 100% Eric Packer in this picture. Have you read the book? Not that you have to but if you haven't, it can explain your reaction.
Eric Packer is a controle freak, detached, unable to express his emotions appropriately. This part aks for a stilled performance and Robert Pattinson is one of the few young actors who can pull this off and therefore is chosen by David Cronenberg. It's all right that you don't like this style of acting but then you may be not like the character as this acting style is needed to bring Eric to life.

Add Josh Hutchinson to your list of youngin's going to Cannes this year. Pattinson, Efron, Stewart and Hutchinson. Can't complain rather these types of movies than High School Musical 58 and Twatlight V1,0000.

Hope Cronenberg delivers this time after the hype. You guys hyped up A Dangerous Method too and that movie put me to sleep.

you could look at a dangerous method and see that it wasn't typical cronenberg. this fill looks like classic cronenberg, so that alone will make it better then a dangerous method.
