So who are Death Grips? Well, they're the blogger approved hip hop act who've made as many headlines for their music as for their various controversies, from leaking their own major label album (whose cover art featured an erect penis) before the official release date, to setting up shows that were nothing more than a CD with the album playing over a club's PA system. But they are nothing if not productive, and now a "Twilight" star has entered their unlikely orbit.
The band announced today that drummer Zach Hill is now wrapping work on "Misoneism," a short film he directed starring Robert Pattinson and Colin Hanks. Yes, really. The word itself means a hatred or fear of change, and the black-and-white movie will follow a man who gets wrapped up in the underground prostitution world in Brazil, with the band—who are doing the soundtrack—aiming for something "shocking and abrasive." Naturally.
Right now, the project is slated for a "one time only" showing at the Guild Theater in Sacramento next spring. Where it goes from there (the internet?) remains to be seen. "Birds," the first song from the soundtrack, can be heard below and keep your ear to the ground for more info. [Pigeons & Planes]
