We're now under two months away from the Cannes Film Festival, and among the titles we're expecting to join the lineup is Nicolas Winding Refn's "Only God Forgives." The long awaited picture continues to play in the shadows, but it looks like we're going to be getting a lot more very, very soon.

Allocine has dropped three brand new, official stills from the film giving us a new look at Ryan Gosling, Kristin Scott Thomas -- his mother in the film -- and the film's main antagonist, Chang aka The Angel of Vengeance, played by Vithaya Pansringarm. While these aren't the most breathtaking snaps, they do suggest a film that has been carefully composed visually, which is hardly a shock when it comes to Refn. The French site also notes that a full blown trailer should be dropping sometime in the next two weeks, so keep your eyes peeled.

Earlier reports suggested a May 23rd bow for this one, and we'll have to see if those plans stick. If so, the clock is ticking....

Very interesting premise. I remember reading Refn saying that the character Julian in the film is looking for a religion he can believe in and has the typical historical enblem of the tragic hero that falls from grace and makes every struggle to regain himself through redemption and sacrifice. Refn's films are always about the human condition and that makes him a very interesting film maker and writer.

Classic status immediately. Would anyone care to differ?

    I MUST HAVE A TRAILER!

Apparently the villain is a real ****ing nutcase. Dying to see him in action!

And Kristin Scott Thomas looks amazing! Make-up can do wonders.

I read the script and I don't know if he (Chang) is a villain, but his character IS amazing..

The composition in Kristin Scott Thomas' still is amazing. Refn's got a great style. Can't wait for this film. Much like most of what Ryan Gosling is involved in these days.
