Saoirse Ronan & Eli Roth Get Bloody In First Looks At 'Byzantium' & 'Aftershock'

Well here's something to get your...blood moving (sorry, lame). Some first official stills have arrived for a couple of films that look like they will be throwing around a lot of the red stuff on the big screen.

First up, after some set photos showing off Gemma and her Artertons, the first official still from Neil Jordan's "Byzanitum" has arrived and sunk its teeth. Starring Saoirse Ronan, Sam Riley, Daniel Mays, Caleb Landry-Jones, Jonny Lee Miller and Tom Hollander, penned by Moira Buffini ("Jane Eyre") and based on her play "A Vampire Story," the story follows a mother (Arterton) who, when turned into a vampire, converts her own daughter (Ronan) into a bloodsucker as well, with the two going on to form a deadly pairing, occasionally posing as sisters. The duo arrive in a small British town and reveal who they are, causing a teenager dying of leukemia (Jones) to question his mortality and in turn, Ronan's character begins to wonder about her own immortality. The film is currently on the sales floor in Berlin looking for victims.

Next up, Eli Roth is having a hard time in "Aftershock." Co-written by Latin-American filmmakers Nicolás López and Guillermo Amoedo, and presented by and starring Roth, the film is centered around the February 27, 2010 Chilean earthquake, with the fictional story about an insane asylum whose inmates are freed during an earthquake. The sizzle reel for the movie, which is still in production has apparently caused a bidding war, with no one emerging victorious just yet. "We are making a smart elevated disaster genre movie with superb production value, something really big. The film’s going to be very scary, very intense, and very real,” Roth told Deadline last week, and that appears to be the case. Check out the pics below. [Deadline/FirstShowing]
