Sean Young Says You Should Boycott The 'Blade Runner' Sequel If She's Not In It

The wheels are slowly turning on a "Blade Runner" sequel, and while we wait to see what kind of shape the story will take, it appears one original cast member is throwing down some ultimatums about the whole endeavour. As you might recall, at the beginning of the year Sean Young said she had met with the folks behind the sequel, and was effectively told that none of the original cast were likely to come back. At the time, she noted that it "disappointment to the audience not to have Rachel in it" and seems those feelings have only grown in the months that followed.

At the time, she noted that it would be a "disappointment to the audience not to have Rachel in it," and seems those feelings have only grown in the months that followed.

Chatting recently with EW, Young took a much harder stand about the whole project and role (or not) if and when the film ever gets made. "Alcon—they’re the ones that own it and apparently they have Ridley to direct it — and when I met with them they didn’t make any offer-plans to include me," she explained. "And when I called Ridley Scott’s office, he doesn’t call me back. So I guess they’re going to go, like, prequel or…I don’t know what they’re going to do. But my official opinion is that, if they don’t include me in it, everybody should boycott it. Because it’s stupid not to have me in it. It’s really stupid. That’s my opinion! I mean, you try to tell people something sensible in Hollywood and sometimes they just don’t listen, you know. And they usually pay the price too, because everybody’s an expert."

Tough talk indeed from Young, and perhaps Katy Perry—who has expressed a teenage dream to play Rachel in the followup — better watch her back. Frankly, the idea of a "Blade Runner" sequel—penned by one of the dudes responsible for "Green Lantern"—is probably boycott-worthy on its own, but what do you think? Is it Sean Young Or Bust for this sequel to work?
