Listen, we know, somebody out there is renting/buying/watching those "American Pie" spinoff straight-to-video sequels in big enough quantities that Universal is getting the old gang back together. Either that, or they're hoping to squeeze the last bit of bucks out of an aging franchise with the added bonus that most of the cast is still going to come cheap. It's probably somewhere in the middle.
The Wrap reports that Seann William Scott (who just checked into rehab), Jason Biggs and Eugene Levy are all officially back for "American Reunion" which for a while was working with the title "American Pie 4." Wisely ignoring the aforementioned sequels, plot details on the new one are non-existent but likely some flimsy excuse will be used to bring all these people back together. Thomas Ian Nicholas, Tara Reid, Chris Klein, Mena Suvari and Jennifer Coolidge are said to be in negotiations but one name is curiously missing: Alyson Hannigan. She's now on a hit TV show ("How I Met Your Mother") and likely doesn't waste her limited off season taking another turn on a treadmill in a series more than a decade old. But then again, it's not like anything else seems to be taking up her time so who knows.
"Harold & Kumar" series creators, Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg, have written the script and will direct so you can probably take a pretty easy guess as to the kind of humor that will be involved. "The Big Chill" this isn't.
