Set Photos Reveal First Look At Jamie Foxx As Electro In 'The Amazing Spider-Man 2'

We weren't sure whether to go with an "Arrested Development" joke ("I blue myself") or something about "Powder," so you'll have to come up with a wittier opening than we did. But needless to say, this first look at Jamie Foxx in "The Amazing Spider-Man 2" is certainly attention grabbing.

With production well underway on the superhero sequel, there has been no end of tweeted or surreptitiously captured images, most of them of little to no consequence except to the most finicky of diehard nerds needing to devour every morsel. But this look at Foxx as Electro is pretty great, and quite transformative, so major kudos to the make-up department for this one. However, with plot details under wraps, it's not quite clear how much Foxx's character will factor into the story or even which narrative Marc Webb and co. are pulling from the comics to run with.

Featuring Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Shailene Woodley, Martin Sheen, Sally Field, Chris Cooper, Jamie Foxx, Paul Giamatti, Felicity Jones and BJ Novak, "The Amazing Spider-Man 2" arrives on May 2, 2014. [Daily Mail/MovieWeb]

The modern interpretations of Electro all look like Dr. Manhattan... but at least they're better than the lime spandex and lightning bolts.
