10 Essential Cinematic Antiheroes“I owe sort of a debt to [Jon] Favreau. I have to carry on what he started without violating it – at the same time bringing sort of my own enhancement if I can,” Black told Wired. “We had a conundrum in that 'The Avengers' opens up this huge skyhole full of inter-dimensional aliens, and you kind of look back and [think], ‘Well, what do you do after that?’ Except go back to a sort of gritty intense kind of techno-thriller route.”
Gritty, intense, different, fresh, not serious… We don’t know what to think, but if that earlier trailer was anything to go by then it doesn’t really matter if Shane Black comes out and says it’s going to be the dullest movie of the summer – we’ll still be excited to see it. The techno-thriller description seems to fit well with the Extremis storyline that’s expected to be depicted, although if that is the case, hopefully we’ll see some Shane Black body-horror thrown in there too. "Iron Man 3" opens on May 3rd and here's a Japanese trailer via Empire that offers up a sliver of new material.
