'Sherlock Holmes' Star Paul Anderson Joins Brian De Palma's 'Passion'; Composer Pino Dinaggio Reunites With Helmer

There's Paul W.S. Anderson of 'Resident Evil' fame, and there's renowned helmer Paul Thomas Anderson. But we'll now have to throw in another Paul Anderson to the mix -- this time without a middle name or initials. The little-known actor is probably best recognized as Colonel Sebastien Moran in "Sherlock Holmes: A Game Of Shadows" and has set up a reunion with his leading ladies on that film, Rachel McAdams and Noomi Rapace, booking a role on Brian De Palma's "Passion."

A loose remake of Alain Corneau's "Love Crime," the film also features Dominic Cooper and Karoline Herfurth, and sees De Palma exploring everyone's professional fantasy as it follows a woman who turns to murder when a boss steals her idea. De Palma previously noted that the movie will provide him the opportunity to "combine eroticism, suspense, mystery and murder into one spellbinding cinematic experience."

Also on board De Palma's latest (he hasn't made a feature since 2007's "Redacted") is Italian composer Pino Donaggio who reunites with the director for the first time since "Raising Cain" (turns out those previous reports about Dario Marionelli scoring the picture were wrong). Donaggio has also scored such De Palma films as "Body Double," "Dressed To Kill," "Carrie," "Blow Out" and "Home Videos," so we're excited to see the director bring back talent from his heydays.

Lensing on the project will begin this month in Berlin with Said Ben Said producing through his SBS Productions shingle. [Daily Mail/Film Music Reporter]

Bernard Herrmann was really the perfect composer for De Palma. It's a shame their time together was so short.
