It's been a while since we've had an update about "The World's End," but serial tweeter Simon Pegg has now unveiled photographic evidence of a second draft of what will become the third collaboration between he, fellow actor Nick Frost and writer-director Edgar Wright.

As of mid-2011, Pegg was still only promising to begin work on the script of the unofficially titled "Cornetto Trilogy" finale, and six months later the only update was that lensing was set to begin some time this year. Things now look to be coming together as quickly as ever with Pegg tweeting that "as soon as I get back from outer space [working on the 'Star Trek' sequel], we can finish this thing once and for all."

Of course, Pegg is just referring to finishing the script, but with his soon-to-be-clear schedule previously one of the biggest hurdles so far ("Mission: Impossible -- Ghost Protocol" and the 'Star Trek' sequel taking up the bulk of his calendar), the odds are favorable for a 2012 start. Helmer Wright has been quiet since the release of 'Scott Pilgrim' but has a few things on the boiler, including his and Joe Cornish's "Ant-Man" script (which Marvel honcho Kevin Feige recently said is "closest it's ever been" to getting made), "The Night Stalker" with Johnny Depp as well as his mysterious Working Title project "Baby Driver."

Frost, meanwhile, is about to promote "Snow White And The Huntsman" and the 'Ice Age' sequel, but has a fairly empty calendar at the moment, and as we mentioned, Pegg's schedule is clearing very soon with little else going on besides a cameo role in Frank Darabont's "L.A. Noir" pilot.

Let's not get carried away, but surely things are as optimistic as ever for "The World's End"? Fingers crossed. [Simon Pegg's Twitter]
