Apparently the idea for the bizarre team-up began “with a November meeting right before Thanksgiving between Grammer, Lawrence and Lionsgate [TV] where the two actors showed great chemistry.” As for why a meeting between the two even took place in the first place, no reason was given. Maybe a stoned exec watched an episode of “Martin” immediately after an episode of “Frasier” late one night. Or their names were simply picked out of a hat.
As it stands the show literally has no premise and the studio is set to “start meeting with potential creators/showrunners to pin down a concept for the buddy series.” Lionsgate TV plans to follow the same distribution plan they created with Tyler Perry’s shows and the Charlie Sheen-starring “Anger Management,” in which an initial ten-episode order is tagged with a clause that enables a much more sizeable re-up if certain ratings target are met (that's why we're getting 90 episodes of Sheen's show -- thanks America).
The 10-90 plan was designed to hit the magic syndication-friendly number of 100 episodes and it’s so far worked out well for the company. Judging on their track record, it’s safe to say that this untitled comedy series will soon be inescapable. Prepare yourself for the comedy all-star team-up you never even knew you wanted.
