10 Essential Cinematic AntiheroesDeadline reports that talks are underway for the always busy Steve Carell to star in the live-action take on the tale. The film will be the second directed by Cholodenko that she didn't write ("Cavedweller" being the other), with Rob Lieber penning the screenplay about Alexander and his family, who together are having the worst day of their lives, leaving Alexander ready to pack it all in and move to Australia. Of course, Carell is no stranger to more family-oriented fare ("Despicable Me," "Horton Hears A Who") and this also has franchise potential with two sequels "Alexander, Who's Not (Do Your Hear Me? I Mean It!) Going To Move" and "Alexander Who Used To Be Rich Last Sunday" already on bookshelves.
But don't worry about Cholodenko abandoning all of her street cred just yet. She is still involved in developing "The Kids Are All Right" into a series for HBO. As for 'Terrible,' it seems the wheels are in motion, but the key will be finding the right kid to play Alexander.
