Steven Soderbergh Considering Post-'U.N.C.L.E.' Options & New 'Haywire' Photos

After exiting the gestating adaptation of '60's spy series "The Man From U.N.C.L.E." as a result of casting and budgeting, it looks like Steven Soderbergh is wasting no time in finding his replacement with his upcoming sabbatical to still take place after filming the Liberace biopic, "Behind The Candelabra," starring Michael Douglas and Matt Damon next summer.

After exiting the gestating adaptation of '60's spy series "The Man From U.N.C.L.E." as a result of casting and budgeting, it looks like Steven Soderbergh is wasting no time in finding his replacement with his upcoming sabbatical to still take place after filming the Liberace biopic, "Behind The Candelabra," starring Michael Douglas and Matt Damon next summer.

Anne Thompson reports that Soderbergh and his team met this weekend to look into options for his next project. Whatever the choice may be (or not be), the aim is to find something to roughly fit in the March 2012 frame previously scheduled for 'U.N.C.L.E.' with lensing on the Liberace biopic still planned for the summer. 

Soderbergh also reportedly wants a hassle-free project ruling out foreign-sales ventures like "Che" with any choice hopefully to have North American distribution in place before hand even if it's an indie. Surely this is to assure "Behind The Candelabra" will be his finale rather than a have a penultimate indie float around on the release schedule.

The director also expressed his no-regrets ideology to Thompson noting he was happy to exit 'U.N.C.L.E.' before it was too late and that his firing on "Moneyball" helped him rather than hindered him as he able to move onto "Haywire" and "Magic Mike" instead.

Speaking of the Gina Carano-led spy-actioner, two new images have also been unveiled featuring a relaxed Soderbergh directing Carano as well as Ewan McGregor in his supporting role, which is what most of the big names males like Channing Tatum, Michael Fassbender, Bill Paxton, Michael Douglas and Antonio Banderas are playing in this film. "Haywire" hits theaters on January 20, 2012 with "Magic Mike" slated for a June 29, 2012 release.
