Wally Pfister Promises Hour Of 'Dark Knight Rises' IMAX Footage, Will Not DP Own Directorial Effort

Just as Christopher Nolan's stamp on the Batman franchise comes to an end with “The Dark Knight Rises,” the film stands to hold a greater meaning for his long-time DP, Wally Pfister. It was recently revealed the installment will serve as Pfister's last film as cinematographer before retiring, but instead of keeping it low-key for his last effort, Pfister has announced even more IMAX footage will make it into the film than expected, as well as plans for his upcoming directorial debut.

Not only does "The Dark Knight Rises" cap off Christopher Nolan's Batman franchise, it marks the end of an era of sorts for both the director and cinematographer Wally Pfister. They've both done some incredible work on the series (and all of Nolan's films), but it now looks they are changing up the working relationship.

So, if you happen to be Paul McCartney, you can pretty much get anybody you want for whatever project you're working on. And with a new album out now, the former Beatle rounded up mega-watt stars Johnny Depp and Natalie Portman to star in the three different videos for the lead single. And if that's not enough, he also got Christopher Nolan's regular collaborator, cinematographer Wally Pfister, to shoot them. Like we said, dude can make anything happen.

As a longtime collaborator of Christopher Nolan, celebrated and Oscar-winning cinematographer Wally Pfister has had plenty of opportunity to see one of the best directors working in action. And now, he's about to take the skills he's picked up, and venture out on his own project.
