Superman Is In Cuffs In New Poster For 'Man Of Steel'

You might want to stay up late on December 13th. With "The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey" hitting theaters at one minute after midnight on December 14th, audiences will be treated to the brand new trailer for Zack Snyder's "Man Of Steel" and it will arrive online around the same time. But to help alleviate the wait, a new poster has dropped and it will certainly help spur lots of speculation.

The one sheet features Henry Cavill in his Superman gear, but cuffed and flanked by some military types. Is Clark Kent in some trouble with local authorities or is it all a ruse to help nab Michael Shannon's General Zod? Either way, it's pretty exciting stuff, one that certainly suggests that the imprint of screenwriter David Goyer and executive producer Christopher Nolan will be felt in the approach on this one.

This is direct still from the comic con footage which looks better than any trailer released this year. If the next trailer is as good as that footage people will be surprised.

as hinted at in the teasers...
Superman reveals himself - public and govt fear him, is 'apprehended' and because he's a good guy doesn't wipe them all out but goes along with it to show he is safe and can be trusted etc...
pretty obvious really.

Why is Superman in handcuffs? He's Superman? Unless they're made of kryptonite, I don't get it. Still pumped for the movie, though.

He's probably chosen to be in those handcuffs. Shit goes down, Superman allows the Government to question him.

Props on concept, but looks like shoddy photoshop based on a screengrab, no design intent whatsoever.

You would think that between reading script and a few meetings with the crew, they could have scheduled a shoot around the shot setup to use for the poster. I don't understand how so much money can be invested in marketing to see results as poorly executed as this.

Why is the poster so grainy? It almost looks like a mistake rather than "atmosphere".

I would honestly prefer a poster like this than one of those with the floating heads pasted on top of the story's action. It's different and certainly more eye catching than one with clean lines and over saturated color.
