'Sympathy For Delicious' Soundtrack With All New Music By The Besnard Lakes Gets Official Release

While Mark Ruffalo's directorial debut "Sympathy For Delicious" was kind of a disaster, he certainly didn't leave anything to chance. The film follows a wheelchair-confined DJ who discovers he has the power to heal, and it boasts a pretty solid cast including Ruffalo himself, Orlando Bloom, Juliette Lewis, Laura Linney, Noah Emmerich and Christopher Thornton (who also wrote the screenplay). But Ruffalo's eye for talent didn't end there.

But Ruffalo's eye for talent didn't end there.

It appears that the actor/filmmaker is somewhat of an indie music nut. "Sympathy For Delicious" features an original score by Montreal rockers The Besnard Lakes and as Ruffalo told us last month, he found them in a roundabout way. "Originally I had used Godspeed You! Black Emperor for the temp track, which led me to this little cache in Montreal of all these great musicians. I ended up going to Besnard Lakes and asking them if they were interested in doing a live score for the movie," he said and the rest, as they say, is history. Not only that, Ruffalo enlisted The Mars Volta leader Omar Rodriguez-Lopez to pen music for the band in the film as well. Well, if you're a fan of either or both, an official soundtrack is on the way letting these tunes see the light of the day.

Rounded out with songs by Do Make Say Think, The Kills and uh, The Bee Gees, the soundtrack spans twenty tracks with a strong helping of Besnard Lakes and Burnt The Diphthongs (the terribly named band in the film that Rodriguez-Lopez penned music for). The disc hits stores on June 7th and should be a much better buy than the alterna-90s "Transformers: Dark Of The Moon" soundtrack which comes out the same day. Full tracklisting below.
