A Most Violent Year
I'm gonna be blunt: it was a f*cking crime that Oscar Isaac wasn't nominated for Best Actor for "Inside Llewyn Davis." But the good news is that, along with the Coen Brothers, Nicolas Winding Refn, and this week, J.J. Abrams, "All Is Lost" and "Margin Call" director J.C. Chandor has also recognized his talent. And this fall, Isaac will be back in the awards season hunt co-starring with Jessica Chastain in Chandor's "A Most Violent Year."

The 2015 Best Picture Contenders, Premature pics
The star of "Ghosts Of Girlfriends Past" and the singer from 30 Seconds Of Mars are Oscar winners, "12 Years A Slave" beat "Gravity," Adele Tazeem became the most famous non-existent person on the planet, and no one's stopped talking about selfies for about 72 hours. The streets of LA are now full of discarded The Weinstein Company interns, who haven't seen daylight for months and are only capable of saying the words "Everything you are and everything you have is 'cos of that butler." Yep, the 2013/2014 awards season has come to an end.

Over the weekend, "The Act of Killing" director Joshua Oppenheimer and producers Errol Morris and Werner Herzog hit Reddit to talk about the Oscar nominated documentary, but of course, the conversation wound up going to many different places. But for our purposes, one of the morsels that dropped had to do with casting on the next effort from Morris.

Pitch Perfect
One of the big sleeper hits of 2010, the musical comedy “Pitch Perfect,” grossed $115 million worldwide off a small $17 million dollar budget, so the Hollywood law of averages dictates a sequel must be made (even though the movie was a perfectly enjoyable, self-contained story that really needed no second chapter).

While he doesn't create his own obstacles to success that Llewyn Davis might, Oscar Isaac likely related to being perpetually on the cusp of stardom before landing the lead role in the latest from the Coen brothers. With films like "Robin Hood," "Drive," "Che" and "The Bourne Legacy" filling his CV, and experience working with filmmakers like Ridley Scott (twice), Steven Soderbergh, Nicolas Winding Refn and more, it's clear to anyone who caught those performances that it was just a matter of time until Isaac got the opportunity to show what he could do with a leading part. And luckily for him and us, the Coens did just that by putting him front and center of "Inside Llewyn Davis."

After working with Nicolas Winding Refn, Ridley Scott, Zack Snyder, Steven Soderbergh and hell, even Madonna, you would think that plenty of doors are already open for Oscar Isaac. Well, we're sure teaming with the Coen Brothers for "Inside Llewyn Davis" (and knocking it out of the park) kicked down a few more.
